What to do when the other side does not respond
What to do at each stage of a deal: a concrete reminder, a smaller counter-proposal, cancelling before the work starts and a dispute once it has.
First, check which stage the deal is at
What you can do depends on the deal's status. While it is a proposal or being negotiated, the terms can still change. Once it is agreed, the terms stand but the work has not started. Once it is in progress, both sides are already doing or handing something over. The status is shown in the deal itself; pick the matching part below.
Send a concrete reminder
Silence usually means someone forgot or is unsure, not that they lost interest. Write a short message in the deal chat: what exactly you need from them, why and by when. For example: "Hi, I still need you to confirm the handover date. If I do not hear from you by Thursday, I will propose a smaller scope." When a deal has not moved for 48 hours, Vymenit.sk sends the person it is waiting on one reminder email, unless they have turned notifications off. That happens once per stage, so your own message still matters most.
While you are agreeing terms: simplify or cancel
If the other side hesitates, a smaller counter-proposal often helps: a narrower scope, one part instead of the whole, or a later date. A smaller deal is easier to accept and to finish. If nothing moves after that, you can cancel the deal. A cancellation has no field for a reason, so write it in the chat first so it is clear why the deal ended. The other side gets an email about the cancellation, unless they have turned deal emails off.
Agreed but not started
You can still cancel an agreed deal until the work starts. If the paying side has already put the top-up into escrow, cancelling returns it to whoever paid. While a payment is outstanding, the 48-hour reminder goes to the paying side. While the deal waits to start, it goes to whoever did not send the last proposal. If everything is ready and the other side is silent, say by when you want to start, then decide whether to cancel.
Once the work is in progress
After the work has started, a deal cannot be cancelled by one side. It is complete only when both sides confirm it. When you have delivered your part, confirm it in the deal; if the other side does not confirm within 48 hours, they get a reminder. If they still do not respond or do not deliver their part, open a dispute and describe what was agreed and what happened. The dispute and your description go to Vymenit.sk support. If a top-up is held in escrow, it stays frozen until support decides who receives it.
What helps and what hurts
It helps when everything is in the deal chat: what you sent, when and in what form. It hurts when the conversation moves elsewhere, when the scope changes after the fact, outside the accepted deal, or when you send the rest of the work or money outside the platform under pressure. A calm, concrete message with a date resolves most cases before a dispute is needed.
